Young Researchers Community Project
Youth today face many health-related challenges including obesity, diabetes, youth violence, and substance use. Through the strategies of participatory action research (PAR) the BLCE is training young people how to become agents of change in their communities.
Nature's Revival Gardens
Utilizing S.T.E.M. concepts youth engaged in the Nature's Revival Gardens transform the environments of schools into immersive hands-on experiential laboratories. LEARN MORE
Through our internship program the BLCE is addressing the problem of health care disparities in the United States by providing opportunities for minority, female, and under-served youth in secondary school to explore careers in health care. LEARN MORE
'R U Respecting Urself
The 'R U RESPECTING URSELF (RURU) project is a youth created movement initiated by teenage girls in Charles County, Maryland. The goal of RURU is to increase awareness of the harmful effects of sexual harassment directed towards teenage girls, as well as provide teenage girls with strategies for reducing sexual harassment.
